Helping Those in Need
Cancer Services
The Foundation provides ongoing assistance to the Medical Center’s Oncology Unit, including important enhancements and equipment that bring critical diagnostic capabilities and treatment options to the bedside of our cancer patients.
Furthermore, a comprehensive cancer detection and treatment center, the Lakeland Regional Cancer Center eases the burden on cancer patients and increases their chances for survival by utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to patient care and bringing clinical trials and other state-of-the art cancer therapies to the community.

- Support outreach, education and advanced new screening programs such as skin, prostate and breast cancers.
- Support Research programs through clinical trials and translational research
- Continue supplementary care services, including art and music therapies.
Cardiology Services
Heart care at LRMC involves a complex and high-tech environment. Technology and treatment options are constantly changing while our patient population is continuing to rise. It is for these reasons that the Foundation will continue to provide resources:
- To purchase high-tech equipment - enabling healthcare providers to better treat and monitor patients.
- To support ongoing education and training programs for nurses and care providers - ensuring the highest level of care for our patients, now and in the future.
- To provide education programs related to cardiac rehabilitation and diabetes - key factors in disease prevention and recovery. These programs enable doctors, nurses, therapists and dietitians to work closely with each patient to identify knowledge deficits and tailor programs that meet the patient’s needs.

Children's Services
Children live in the present, lost in their games, curious beyond belief. We live in hope that they don’t grow up too fast and that the worries of their world will pass from moment to moment. But if that ever changes, it’s good to know that there’s a place to turn. For children, that place is Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
LRMC’s 42-bed pediatric medical/surgical center is the region’s largest, and our 6-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the only one of its kind in our area. In addition, a 10-bed Pediatric Emergency Department houses life-saving equipment specific to a child’s needs.
- Plans are in development for a $2.5 million expansion of the current Pediatric Emergency Department, which sees more than 25,000 patients/year. The Foundation will help fund the expansion as well as the purchase of new equipment.
- The Foundation provides regular support for Pediatric Care services such as Child Life Therapy. This program ensures that children have the emotional support and comfort they need as well as the opportunity to play and take part in normal everyday activities during their hospital stay.
- Lakeland Regional Medical Center is one of the few not-for-profit hospitals in the region—accepting all patients regardless of their ability to pay for needed healthcare services. Consequently, more than half of the pediatric patients who visit Lakeland Regional utilize Medicaid as a payment provider. An additional 12 percent of patients are self-pay, and are uninsured or under-insured. As a result, the hospital seeks charitable support to maintain the highest quality of care for all patients.

Healing Arts
The growth and expansion of LRMC's Healing Arts program is dependant on the
support of our community. The Healing Arts program plans to provide the
following services:
- Live music and art displays in the lobbies and common areas of the hospital
for the soothing and enjoyment of patients, visitors and staff members.
- Craft & creative activities that can be completed at the bedside through the
use of a portable art cart and supplies.
- Access to instruments for play and study as well as volunteer led group arts
activities for patients and caregivers.
